Leaving Home Poems

I'm so excited that I'm going
I'm feeling nervous though;
I will miss everyone around here
But I know it's time to go.

I've overstayed my welcome
As I'm now nearly thirty-three;
But you have made it possible
For my move to the valley.

So my dearest Mom and Dad
Please visit when you want;
It's beautiful it really is
You can even bring my aunt.

As I leave and say goodbye as off to college I go
It's not just any you know; it's intercontinental;
I can't believe how fabulous this is what a chance I've got
I'm so delirious I think I'm going mental.

The excitement is too much for me
I have a fever and my speech has gone all wild
Squeaky voice with a red flushed face
I can't believe I'm acting like a child.

Dear Mom and Dad I'm leaving
I'm going away tonight
I'm off to go get married;
As I've met my Mr Right.

I know you will be nonplussed
As you had made many plans;
But they are yours not mine
I want to be with this man.

So thank you but I know
You'd try to stop me if you could;
Forgive me and I'll be back
As I know I should.

I love you both so very much
You've been so wonderful to me;
As soon as I feel the time is right
I'll be back you just wait and see.

To Mom and Dad

That's how the story goes;
I'm off to go to war
I've wanted to be in the army
Ever since I was four.

I know that you will worry
But I'm doing what I want;
I'll be well trained before
They send me to the front.

Thank you for your loving care
You've been fabulous both of you;
No one could wish for better
You're simply the best you two.

Students, Graduates Leaving School, College, University
There'll be tears in your ( Bud)
You perfected being a slob;
Now you've gone and joined the real world
And got a proper job
Oh (Jimmy), don't leave us
Don't forsake your age old vow
You'd perfected the art of laying about
Don't go and spoil it now.

I am off on the journey of my life
One whole year to travel around;
To see the sights
To hear the sounds

My travels will give me an insight
Into how the other half lives;
To see and to feel the same as them
To see just how much I can give.

I appreciate the privilege I've had up to now
Food in my belly and things on the telly;
So now I need to find my path to see what I can do
To make my life worthwhile and not grow sedgy.

I'm leaving home now mom and dad
I've got a pad somewhere to call my own
I'll make as much mess as I want;
Somewhere that will be my home.

You've sheltered me for to long now
I've driven you mad over the years
With my dirty socks and messy room
I know mom I've driven you to tears.

So celebrate! Your home is now your own
For things to stay so nice and clean;
Peace and quiet long overdue
No longer feeling like my canteen.
